Coffee growers from this region have been producing coffee for 3 generations. Between 200-600 AD, Monte Alban was one of the great urban centers of Meso-America, home of the Zapotec people.
Our importing partners, Caravela Coffee, are working with the smallholder farmers to have their coffee certified organic, to help garner better prices for their coffee.
Winner of the Name Your Own Tasting Notes Competition, Matt, describes this as his favorite cup of all time, with African peaberries coming in a close second. He writes:
"Nose: Rich and earthy aroma with prominent brown sugar and cinnamon notes, and a lively floral undercurrent.
Taste: On the arrival, brown sugar...with bright notes of fruit like peaches and nectarines."
